Ein stattlicher, dichter geschlossener Grasbüschel, über dem die Rispen zu schweben scheinen, das ist das Grundbild der Pfeifengräser. Bei den unterschiedlichen Sorten findet man unterschiedliche Ausprägungen und Farbtöne.
Die Wedel sehen auch sehr schön in dekorativen Blumensträußen aus.

'Karl Foerster' ist ein mannshohes Ziergras mit Massen von verzweigten Blütenrispen. Es eignet sich sehr gut für die Einzelstellung in größeren Beeten. Eine leuchtende Herbstfärbung vervollkommned das Bild.

(Zu Lebzeiten Karl Foersters wurde dies Gras noch Molinia altissima genannt)

Wuchshöhe: 180 cm

Blüte: August - September, goldbraune Ähren, großblütig

Laub: grün, goldbraune Herbstfärbung

Standort: sonniger bis halbschattiger Platz, Gartenboden
